Biohackers might HATE me for saying this

April 6, 2025

Bull... 💩

I'm seeing Methylene Blue EVERYWHERE right now...

Instagram, TikTok, podcasts…

People are taking this and showing their blue tongue saying it makes them feel good, that it improves their energy, that it's giving them "superhuman powers" 🤦🏻

And I know this might ruffle some biohacker feathers, but I need you all to understand something really important…

Methylene blue is NOT a healthy thing for humans!

Methylene blue is synthesized from dimethylanilin, a PETROLEUM derivative.

Surely though there the HAS to be benefits; otherwise, it wouldn’t be so popular, right?

Well, Methylene blue directly affects your mitochondrial electron transport chain.

That's the cellular machinery responsible for producing ATP – the energy currency your body runs on.

That part might sound cool…

But here's what the methylene blue pushers either do not want you to understand or do not understand THEMSELVES:

IF your mitochondrial electron transport chain is broken or damaged, then sure, methylene blue might help in the short term by shuttling electrons along from NADH or FADH₂

(These are molecules that carry high-energy electrons made from food and deliver them to the mitochondria to help produce energy).

But if you have a HEALTHY mitochondrial electron transport chain, methylene blue is actually DECREASING the amount of ATP you're producing by moving electrons further down the electron transport chain.

Meaning…

The very supplement you're taking for "more energy" could be REDUCING your cellular energy production if your mitochondria are functioning normally!

(This has been reproducibly shown in scientific research)

So, like most trendy solutions, Meth Blue is just a Band-Aid - it doesn't actually FIX anything.

In medicine, methylene blue is primarily used for methemoglobinemia – a condition where iron in hemoglobin is oxidized from Fe2+ to Fe3+, preventing it from properly carrying oxygen.

But that's a MEDICAL CONDITION, not something healthy people need to "optimize."

So, outside of very specific contexts, it should NOT be used by humans.

There's another major issue here that nobody's talking about...

Methylene blue strongly inhibits MAO-A or monoamine oxidase A (PMID: 17721552)

This gives it powerful antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects.

Essentially, it's functioning as a psychiatric drug…

Because when you take methylene blue, you are affecting serotonin metabolism in your brain and body in a significant way by increasing serotonin in the synaptic cleft between neurons.

In short, that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to know whether "feeling better" on methylene blue is from improved energy metabolism or just altered neurotransmitter levels in your brain.

You even risk serotonin syndrome this way, which can cause heart palpitations, sweating, anxiety, and potentially… even death.

(So if you're taking an SSRI, an SNRI, a TCA aka. tricyclic antidepressant, St. John's Wort, Rhodiola, or 5-HTP – do NOT take methylene blue without very careful consideration!)

And here’s the really crazy part…

At high doses (4-5mg per kg), methylene blue can actually turn your brain and heart blue ☠️

Historically, doctors added it to psychiatric medications to check if patients were taking their meds – if their pee turned blue, they were compliant.

It also rewires the respiratory chain in different ways when the chain is impaired, but in NONE of these scenarios does it lead to a BETTER respiratory chain than the exquisitely designed one we naturally possess (PMID: 33669457)

At best, Meth Blue offers a workaround when your mitochondria are compromised.

And the evidence isn't even convincing in clinical settings…

There have been studies on Alzheimer's patients (who almost certainly have broken mitochondrial electron transport chains), and methylene blue did NOT improve outcomes.

In fact, it actually INCREASED the amount of falls these people had 😬

Bottom line…

If you are a healthy human… GET RID OF IT. It's BS 💩

The idea that methylene blue improves mitochondrial function is totally false.

If your mitochondria are struggling, maybe you'll benefit in the short term...

But you need to ask yourself WHY you're in this position.

How did your mitochondrial electron transport chain get broken in the first place?

And more importantly…

How can you fix it FOUNDATIONALLY.

This part, I can answer for you:

The truth is, there are SO MANY nutrients required to make a healthy mitochondrial electron transport chain function properly.

CoQ10 is a big one – and where is CoQ10 found?

You guessed it… Animal meat and organs, especially heart and liver 🥩

Get them fresh if you can. If you can't - Heart & Soil Warrior is made of 100% grass-fed and grass-finished heart & liver.

In the end, eat at an evolutionarily appropriate diet of meat, organs, fruit, and honey... cut out the processed foods and excess linoleic acid…

And watch yourself become superhuman WITHOUT the blue tongue.

(It'll probably save you some money too!).
