David Bar = Sinister 💩

September 14, 2025

Have you seen the piling horror stories on the internet from people whose bodies literally “rejected” David Protein Bars? 😬

(Warning: might not be breakfast-friendly!)

Unfortunately, this guy’s experience is not surprising to me.

David Bar = A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Yes, their marketing is very sexy...

28 grams of protein, only 150 calories, "rigorously perfected protein."

But, let me tell you what they're NOT telling you about their "secret ingredient" that renders those miracle macros possible…

EPG (Esterified Propoxylated Glycerol) - is basically fake fat made from Canola Oil (a SEED OIL 🚩) that's been chemically modified so your body can't digest it.

This is eerily similar to Olestra, the notorious fat substitute from the 1990s that caused "anal leakage" and came with FDA warning labels 😷

Olestra was known to cause all sorts of GI side effects like gas with discharge, diarrhea, oily spotting, oily evacuation, oily stool, liquid stool, and soft stool - especially when consumed in higher amounts (PMID: 8508694, PMID: 9882026)

EPG is pretty similar…

They take canola oil, separate the fatty acids from the glycerol, add propylene oxide (a petroleum-derived chemical), then put it back together.

The result? Something that has the “texture of warm candle wax” that gives you the mouthfeel of fat … but can't be digested.

Instead, most of it just passes through you 💩💩💩

(Might want to skip the David Bar before a date or important meeting 😅)

Studies on EPG are shown to cause the SAME GI side effects (PMID: 25497998):

It gets worse though...

EPG acts as a lipid "sink" during gastrointestinal transit, reducing absorption of certain fat-soluble vitamins like β-carotene and vitamin K1. Studies in animal models showed EPG was associated with lower mean liver vitamin E levels; liver vitamin A and serum vitamin D were also lower.

So instead of adding nutrients, it may actually LOWER your levels of key vitamins when eaten in larger amounts.

And if fake fat wasn't enough…

David bars are loaded with artificial sweeteners like Sucralose and Acesulfame potassium.

Research shows these compounds can disrupt the gut microbiome, trigger inflammatory changes, and produce markers of liver stress (PMID: 38541649,  PMID: 28594855, ).

Even the WHO has warned against them for weight control, citing uncertain long-term risks...

So much for "designed for the human body" 🙄

If I were David, I would have:

  • Used real animal fats like tallow or butter
  • Used honey or maple syrup for sweetness
  • Maybe even added real organ meats for extra micronutrients

(Or just not made one at all if I couldn’t make something truly healthy for humans!)

Instead, they chose the processed food playbook: make it cheap, make it shelf-stable, make it addictive, and market it as healthy.

Listen, if you want high protein AND low calories… eat a chicken breast. Or a sirloin steak.

That's WAY better.

But I get it. People want convenience. They want something on the go.

I also get that walking around with a piece of cheese in your pocket or Tupperware full of steak isn’t practical…

(You might get some weird looks too, which I personally welcome 🤣)

But this is exactly why we created Lineage Provisions.

We wanted to show people there's a BETTER way to enjoy real, nutrient-dense foods, no matter how busy you are.

And our growing range PROVES you can have convenient, high-protein snacks without selling your health down the river.

There’s no other way to put it guys…

David Protein Bars  - and most protein bars for that matter - aren't "protein perfected"

They're ultra-processed junk food wearing a health halo.

When companies have to engineer fake fats and load up on artificial sweeteners to make their "health" product work, that should be a clear indication for you to RUN the other way!

Instead…

Stick to real food that’s ACTUALLY designed for the human body
